Only 4 hours from Tokyo's international airport Narita, Hakuba is one of the most accessible winter resorts in Japan.
You can reach Hakuba on the same day as you arrive, something that is frequently not possible when travelling to Niseko on the North island, which often requires an over night stay in Tokyo or other Asian city.
Coming to a foreign country, especially one like Japan, can however be a little daunting. English is understood and spoken, but locals can be shy in talking to foreigners and signs are not always so easily understood. But don't be put off, with little patience you shouldn't have too much trouble.
