Matsumoto Castle

Built in 1504 this is the oldest 5 story building currently standing in Japan.

This national treasure consists of a number of impressive battlements, gates and defensive towers, the most dramatic being that of the Donjon tower.

Only an hour away from Hakuba by train it's well worth the visit.
