Fancy a day off?
There are a couple of must do's if you are not going to hit the slopes during the day. The two most popular local attractions are the impressive Matsumoto Castle, built in the late 16th century and still standing proudly, and the nearby Snow Monkey population, which both entertain and educate all year round.
Going Japanese, taking a traditional Onsen
For centuries the Japanese have known the physical and spiritual release to be found when soaking in a tradtional onsen. Relieve those aching muscles while blissfully lapping up a true cultural experience. We can not recommend this enough!
